No Glue, No Sew Pumpkins!
This is a the perfect little Fall Craft for when you have next to no time... but still want to craft! It is also perfect for getting the 'littles' involved or even for those working with Seniors. An old pool noodle will easily make a whole pumpkin patch of these!
I used ribbon to make mine but you could use old fabric strips - I think the rough edges would make a rustic and tattered looking pumpkin that would be adorable.
Sometimes you just need a little something that lets you feel accomplished but that doesn't stress you out along the way... or a craft that allows you create a LOT, for a little, in a short amount of time!

Hallowe’en Owl Wreath
Просмотров 8712 часов назад
This all started with a thrifted find - the black Owl! how fabulous is he? I coupled him with tons of Dollar Tree ribbons... and I mean tons. I truly added up the base spools of black (that i had to go to 3 Dollar Tree stores to get since none of them seemed to have any substantial number of the spools left in stock) ... 10! And... truly... I would have been even happier if I'd had 11. So... 11...

How to Use Copper Leaf

Whether you're making over a piggy bank, a candlestick or adding leafing to edging and details on fur...
Mini Needle Felted Birds … and what to do with them!
Просмотров 138День назад
This is such a cute (and quick!) little needle felting project! It started out more as a decor project, inspired by the wood pieces donated by a lovely customer and friend of mine... but I thought the little birds would be a cute addition so... you get a tutorial on both. Although, admittedly, the assembly of the trees and birds in them was the quickest part! This is a great project for a begin...

Paint Staining Wood Stairs
Просмотров 9714 дней назад
This is a very practical video which not only demonstrates how to use paints as coloured stains on raw wood, but the things you should consider specifically when looking to stain stair caps. This sort of thing goes on behind-the-scenes in the shop and I thought that i should perhaps show a bit of these elements given many of you are often looking to update your homes. Rooster Update with Paint Washes
Просмотров 20114 дней назад
Colour washes are a great way to create layers of colour, providing a subtle multi-toned effect. When layered over a metallic base, the final effect can be quite magical. Today we take a simple resin rooster and turn him into something more majestic. Although I am using this technique on a figurine, bear in mind that you can use this same process on anything from furniture to candlesticks. Chan...
Updating an Old Stool

A quick little makeover... not a professional upholstery job... the stool itself wasn't worth it... but sometimes you just need it to be quick and done. It was worth the 'save' but not really worth putting in more tha...
Carved Wood Picture

I do not have great wood carving tools - mostly because I never envisioned carving wood. The set that I have is very basic and I picked it up to carve rubber - which is infinitely softer. So... I tried to keep this craft fairly simple... on par with my skill level, lack of experience and the possession of poor tools. I still think it came out cute. Sure! See... I go simple... you go complex! No reason that wouldn't work - just use a good glue. If you're doing a 3 dimensional pumpkin you likely don't need a base, just glue them together, but you could use the noodles to create a 2-D version on a backboard... in a frame perhaps?

      It's really important to keep the backing paper on until you're at the surface you want to apply it to and then slide it offwith a flat hand... trying to maintain it's shape. If you have lightly misted the surface you're applying it to with water, it will help you to 'move' the transfer and eliminate wrinkles. I did another video using this technique - on a rocking chair this time. I got better at it... it might give you a few more points. ruclips.net/video/7l62BDUgRK0/видео.html

      @QueenBeeCreations 7 дней назад

      I don't use it for this project myself (that's why it's not in the video) but others expressed concern over the fact that alcohol inks are UV sensitive. I do seal my alcohol ink paintings with a UV protectant and sealer and I dropped that into the list in case they opted to use it. You would spray the inside of the ball before adding any inks... spray, dry and then start the project.

    WHEN I BLOW MINE WITH THE AIR IT MAKES SPIDER LEG LOOKING SPOTS. IT DOESNT SPREAD OUT ALOT. AM I DOING IT WRONG?

    • @QueenBeeCreations
      @QueenBeeCreations 13 дней назад

      It's all a function of 'where' you are directing the air in the ball. and how close the nozzle is to the ink you're trying to move. The closer and more direct the more it's going to give you the splatter look... perhaps the spider legs you're referring to. I blow the air in but off to the side of the 'fresh' ink. You can opt to try 'swirling' the ink a little instead and see if that works for you better.

      Ahhh... read your other post first... this is a useful tip in the event that store-bought stains don't have the colour you're looking for.... so much easier to 'mix' the paints to get the match than purchasing a lot of stains to try to get it right!

  • @DylanShumway-hs3mm
    @DylanShumway-hs3mm 17 дней назад

    So helpful Cindy! I love the pragmatic focus. Just wondering if you can get ablended effect with different color washes similar to what you can achieve with alcohol inks?

    • @QueenBeeCreations
      @QueenBeeCreations 16 дней назад

      Because you're applying the washes/stains to open, unsealed wood, they absorb quite quickly. So... blending in its truest sense isn't really possible. However, you can lay a first colour down in 'patches' and then back fill the open areas with another colour wash, overlapping areas to create layered colours... if that makes sense!!

  • @nancychannel8513
    @nancychannel8513 17 дней назад

    This was so interesting. When I took the old carpeting off my stairs, they were a very dark damaged mahogany stain. I am wondering if this process would work, just not in grey tones.

    • @QueenBeeCreations
      @QueenBeeCreations 17 дней назад

      Bear in mind I'm doing this on bare wood. If you are planning to sand down the stairs first then you could stain them in any colour paint you choose. Depending upon the type of wood Mahogany stain is a little notorious for really sinking down into the crevasses and hard to sand out fully... but... depending upon the colour you're going with that extra detail could be great beneath the colour you choose. (if it's even the case)

    • @QueenBeeCreations
      @QueenBeeCreations 17 дней назад

      I debated using the weathered wood - though I think this turned out the better option. Lighting and pics for things like this are difficult to capture fully on camera or computer... I actually took samples of everything outside to look at them in daylight to make sure I was on the right track! As for mixing colours.... one of my favourite things to do!! No paint company can come up with every colour and shade that a customer may want so I'm often in my shop showing people how to get the colour they want. I like to practice mixing using finger tip dots of colour on acetate/clear plastic so I can see what a colour mixed in different ratios (1:1, 1:2 etc.) looks like. Put those colour formulas down on file cards with a sample of the colour for reference.
